From Summer to Fall this @armoire.style dress can stay in your closet on rotation. Here I reinvented it with an @dior handbag strap as a belt (they are so pricey we need to get creative with them) 🤪 and a @zadigetvoltaire army jacket. Booties and presto! What do you think?

Boss Lady Look! Well, I’m not much of a boss judging by how my business is going, and exposing some midriff won’t get me any points either. But the look was on the LV runways. All black straight lines and some skin. All the better to show off the bright colored almost neon crossbody bags they came out with which of course I don’t own. Of course, this skirt is from the lovely @armoire.style! #BSSLDYPWR

Here I was caught by @sarahblazephotog lounging around in my comfy and cute @armoire.style dress! It is perfect for dreaming of warmer weather or lounging by the fireplace during the holidays.

Business Chic thanks to @armoire.style 😘 This @veronicabeard jacket is pretty much perfect for whatever you are up to. Business or monkey business it’s all good! #ShopLocal! with #MyArmoireStyle

Everything is different in these times. Why not try something that you want to be different?! This week I’m experimenting with a new fashion shape compliments of @armoire.style and a more blunt hair shape compliments of Josh @tangerinesalons For me, the benefits of renting from @armoire.style are many. You get to play with new styles, have greater variety, and don’t have to invest in those special occasions pieces you might only wear once. Their service is exemplary and the choices are great. Think of the money you can save and the fun you can have💃PS I’m even reworking a chain belt into a necklace. Time to think outside the box with #MyArmoireStyle.

Of all of my picks from @armoire.style, this @dereklam boho number is one of my favorites. Now that the #shechateau has shrunk a bit with the move to Dallas it is wonderful to have access to outfits you might not always need in rotation. (Not to mention designers that might be out of reach). I styled it with a @lovechicos leather belt and a burgundy bag.

I wore this dress as my Halloween outfit with cashmere fingerless gloves. A great way to cover our arms BTW. Here I am getting double duty by adding a gold belt and taking it out to dinner. Can I call this #casualchic? It’s cotton and has pockets after all and why not, all rules seem to be flying out the window

Thank you @armoire.style for allowing me to experiment with different styles. We all get stuck in our same looks and it is great to see the possibilities and allow our look to grow. Here a @31philliplim dress. I raised the hem on this very firm fitting number and wore it with sneakers. The original version is on the right. Which one looks better to you?

You are what you wear

You are what you wear

We’ve all heard the expression: You are what you eat. Nowadays, thanks to a more conscious lifestyle that we all chose to embody, we know that the adage also includes what we watch, listen to, read, and the people we surround ourselves with. Everything that we consume and participate in makes up the fabric of who we are. Speaking of fabric, what you wear also plays a big part in your mental and spiritual well-being.

There is a vibratory frequency to everything. Have you ever felt down and used a little lipstick as a mood enhancer? Frumpy, so you added your favorite pair of shoes? We’ve all felt stuck, unmotivated, and unconfident in our lives, and I find the best way to shake up any mood that I’m in is to go for an outfit change!

Live your best dressed and most confident life with these three motivating factors.

Dress for the job that you want, not the job that you have

These days, traditional office jobs don’t look so traditional, and a lot of us are working from our kitchen table. While your morning routine may look like making your coffee and hitting the keyboards running, allow me to try to persuade you to take a moment to take off your PJs and find your self an OOTD. What we wear dramatically affects how we perform and how people perceive us (even on Zoom). Dressing “the part,” even from your living room, can help motivate you and cultivate an air of confidence that ultimately enables you to stay focused, especially when you work from home.

I LOVE this casual Work from Home Look from Lilly Style

You are what you wear

Getting dressed can help elevate your mood, which I know we can all use right now. Often, when people feel depressed or bad about themselves, they reflect those feelings in their wardrobe. Dressing well can help your psyche, make you more empowered, and have the confidence to control your life. It can help improve your outlook, and the positive feedback you receive from others can significantly improve your sense of self and overall happiness.

You never get a second chance to make a great first impression

Whether you like it or not, people judge by their first impressions of us. Mindful dressing helps attract friends, partners, and relationships that form our lives. By attracting others and developing meaningful relationships, you can reinforce dressing well and begin to improve your confidence.

How we can Train our Brain to improve our Memory

How we can Train our Brain to improve our Memory

Today on the Style Beyond Age blog I´m exploring the memory palace technique and how we can train our brain to improve our memory. It´s an interesting concept and I thought we could all give it a try.

Are you forever making lists, so that something is not forgotten?

Have you ever walked into a room to find something, only to forget what you were looking for?

I’m sure most of us have at some point. Memory is a funny thing, but it isn’t something that is destined to worsen. Instead it is something we can improve, maintain and strengthen at any age and here are some tips from the experts to help us all.

Train your Brain to Remember

Before we dive into the specific techniques themselves, let´s discover a little more about what the memory palace technique involves. The technique utilizes the fact that our brain is extremely good at remembering places we know and strong visual images, so it combines the two.

Once we have mastered the technique, we should be able to “place” the items we want to remember within our memory palace and extract them quickly as we mentally walk around it.

Once learned, this technique is very versatile and can be used to remember almost anything, from a shopping list, to family birthdays and more.

First things first, we need to decide where our memory palace will be.

Decide on your Memory Palace

Your memory palace should be a location or route you are already very familiar with. It could be a walkthrough your home, your commute to work or your favorite jogging route – the choice is yours as long as you know the journey well. For the purpose of this blog, I´m going to be choosing my home in Montana as the example.

Attach Strong Images

Once we have selected the route for our memory palace, we should attach a strong image to the items we want to remember. Let´s start with a simple shopping list.

The first item I need to pick up from the grocery store is some salmon for dinner and as my memory palace is my home, I will start at the front door. Now, I need to place the fish at my front door using a strong visual image. Perhaps the fish is escaping under the door, perhaps it is trying to bite my toes even – the more extreme and memorable the better.

Memory palace technique
The second item I need to collect from the store are some flowers for the dinner table, so let´s imagine that I run away from the biting fish at the front door, into a beautiful flowery meadow full of flowers – there´s not too much imagination required here.

The third item on my shopping list is oat milk, so as I brave the salmon and finally walk through my front door in my memory palace I have a large chandelier hanging directly in front of me. Let´s visually turn this into an oat milk waterfall, that splashes us as we walk past.

Now, we are only three items into the shopping list, but I think you get the idea. When I arrive at the grocery store, I will mentally walk through my memory palace and quickly recall the biting salmon at the front door, the flower meadow I escaped to and the oat milk waterfall chandelier. It works and I am actually able to recall the items with no list in sight.

Review and Maintain

I´m told that no memory lasts forever without a little work, so we should review and walk through our memory palace route if the information needs to be retained long-term. With repetition and a little work, we can commit almost anything to memory and the days of lists could be behind us.

Let me know if you use the memory palace technique and how it has benefited you? I am new to this journey, but its already making things so much easier for me. Give it a try for yourself and let me know how you get on.

How to wear prints and patterns 2

How to wear Prints and Patterns at Every Age

How to wear Prints and Patterns at Every Age

How to wear Prints and Patterns at Every Age

I thought we would lighten the mood and have some fun with fashion on the Style Beyond Age blog. Today I´m sharing how to wear prints and patterns at every age, to keep them looking stylish and avoid overwhelming your frame.  Let’s dive into this styling session and see what we can create.

Print Head to Toe

Well, I certainly got out of my comfort zone with this look and I’m so glad I did!

As I get older, I am noticing that I am now “petite”. That means my height is shrinking, so being overwhelmed by prints would seem to be something to avoid. But, a pair of strappy heels and a confident attitude go a long way to feeling fantastic in a look like this. Bonus points for not having to think about coordinating anything, just pop it on along with your attitude and you´re ready to go.

Prints from Chico´s
This clutch has been in rotation for decades. It is actually an inexpensive one I found years ago. I embellished it with bits and pieces I couldn’t quite part with. You have things like that don’t you? They might hold a memory and might have been damaged through time.

The gold item is a button off a dress of my mother’s, the turquoise stone came from a necklace that broke and the lapis was a worry stone I rubbed for ages (have you ever used one they are very popular in places like Greece). It cracked on a fault line so I added the silver top to hang it as a necklace and it ended up on this clutch.

Clutch with Chicos Accessories
The sandals are from Zara last year. Something about the color spoke to me and I am getting a ton of use out of them. Check the acrylic and wood heel. A perfect counterpart to the Chico’s bracelet as luck would have it.

Graphic Tee Cool

On the casual side. I finally found the high-rise wider leg jeans I was searching for and they are on sale at Chico’s.  They are my summer go to.

Paired with an open front lightweight cardigan (you will love the stickler feel of this fabric) with a graphic tee for an unexpected twist! This from our resident stylist @evokeserena

Graphic Tee Style Beyond Age
Again a bit of a heel for an elongated look –  check the animal print on the heel I found these by Dolce Vita at TJMax!

The straw bag is from @targetstyle embellished with pompoms for a pop of color. ( I must be into decorating my bags).

Check the ring from @lovechicos. They have the best accessories every time.

Prints and Stripes

Another fantastic Chico’s look.

Do you think of pairing prints and stripes? It is a formula that works perfectly almost every time. When you think of fashion outside the box this would be something to try.

We all have that striped T in our closets, so just pull it out, run it across your prints and see what catches your eye.

Styling Tip:

The key here is to keep it in the same color scheme – in this case navy.

How to wear prints over 50
This Chico’s palm print linen pant is just the ticket for hot summer days. It doesn’t bind like jeans do and it’s a great alternative to shorts.

Until we show thispicture I didn’t notice the bottom of this @patricianash bucket bag. So cool!

The shoes are @colehaan. They work with this look but honestly they are too clunky for my taste and hard for me to walk in, however, they seen to be all the rage. You get height without a true heel just a flat platform, so they may work for you.

How to wear stripes and prints
Well look who is wearing eye makeup and lipstick. That’s a lot for me! But we are here for fashion so check these Chicos earrings. Light as a feather and I am wearing them on repeat. This stone ring is from them as well. It will go with everything and it’s on sale!!
